A little help as you cook
Ask about the recipe in front of you, or find another way to make it.
Ask a focused question
Open the assistant while viewing a recipe to give your question useful context. Try “What can I use instead of buttermilk?” or “Explain the folding step.” Include dietary restrictions and what you have available when asking for substitutions.
Voice and conversation
You can speak in the app when microphone and speech permissions are enabled. Each new voice session starts fresh; relevant recipe context can still help with your question. Conversation preferences live in Settings → Assistant.
Apple Intelligence
On supported devices, Saffron uses Apple Intelligence on device. If it is off, follow the setup instructions shown in Saffron and enable it in Apple Settings. Models may need time to become ready. Turning it off does not switch you to cloud AI.
Devices without Apple Intelligence
Optional online assistance is available only on hardware that does not support Apple Intelligence. It requires internet and can be disabled in Assistant settings. Local recipe tools remain useful without generated replies.
Review suggestions
Substitutions can change texture, flavor, and cooking behavior. Confirm allergens and recipe-specific requirements yourself; an assistant answer does not replace checking ingredient labels or the original recipe.
